Let’s Build a Berlin
Where Everyone Belongs!
A community initiative by SINGA Berlin — co-creating projects that make our city more inclusive.
What Is Amplifying Belonging?
Amplifying Belonging in Berlin is a community initiative by SINGA Berlin that empowers newcomers and long-time Berliners to co-create a more inclusive city.

From May to November 2025, participants will design and launch projects that activate public spaces, spark community gatherings, and offer peer-led trainings — all with one goal: to foster connection and belonging in Berlin. Amplifying Belonging is your opportunity to shape the city with your voice, your perspective, and your creativity.
Project Formats
Projects were submitted until May 2025.

Every submitted project for Amplifying Belonging in Berlin fit into one (or more) of the following three formats: Public Space Intervention, Third-Space Gathering, or Train-the-Trainer Program.

Some of the initiatives intersect multiple formats.
Our Project Eco-System
Meet our Belonging Builders Projects

Together with our Belonging Builders, we co-create projects in public spaces, third spaces, and through train-the-trainer formats—building bridges, fostering collaboration, and shaping an inclusive Berlin where everyone feels at home.
  • The Bude
A simple structure with a powerful idea: public space as a third place.

The Bude is a free, co-created pavilion in Berlin's public space, designed as an accessible third place where anyone can host or join community-driven events. Anybody can host a dinner, run a workshop, teach a class, celebrate a birthday, or simply bring people together in this space for free. It’s a low-threshold, co-created structure designed to bring people together and nurture a sense of belonging.

This summer, we’re testing a Minimum Viable Product (MVP): a fully functional prototype built by volunteers. It’s not the final version, but a first step toward a larger goal—a more spacious, multi-function pavilion that can host a wide range of events, from intimate meals to full-scale performances.
  • Art Space Collective
    Vision

We aim to foster a sense of belonging and authentic connection through the arts and crafts by bringing together independent artists, local workshop hosts, and intimate event spaces in Berlin.

    What We Do

Our initiative connects independent artists and small business workshop hosts with cozy, character-rich spaces and engaged local audiences. Through curated art-focused gatherings in an intimate "Wohnzimmer" (living room) setting, we support emerging creatives while building inclusive, art-loving communities.

  • ShiftZ Movement
    About us

The SHIFT Z Movement by Sustain.ALL brings together creative communities, newcomers, long-time residents, and brands to co-create a sustainable future and inclusive Berlin. Through belonging-led workshops, creative labs, and collaborations, the initiative turns ideas into measurable action. SHIFT Z partners with local artists, venues, and communities to bridge culture, climate, and creativity.
  • Money Freedom & Amplifying Belonging in Berlin
    About us

Our sessions explore how money and belonging are deeply connected — from shifting mindsets around safety and scarcity, to building practical skills for managing personal finances, using digital tools, and creating sustainable income streams.

Each workshop blends reflection, storytelling, and hands-on exercises with peer sharing and accountability. The overall goal is not just financial literacy, but to empower participants to redefine wealth, strengthen resilience, and build a sense of community support as they pursue financial freedom and deeper belonging in their new home.
  • Toto's Books
    What we do:

Toto’s Books turns children’s stories into immersive audio and print adventures, co-created with educators, parents, and artists across Africa and the diaspora. Alongside co-founder Amal Abbass, Sharon partners with organisations like Kindezi Kita Berlin, Tubman Network, and Leap Learning Labs to bring these identity-affirming stories into classrooms, homes, and community spaces.
Meet Our Belonging Builders
... And find out what Belonging Means to Them

We support initiatives led by newcomers and locals that strengthen belonging across the city. Selected initiatives join our community of Belonging Builders, where they receive coaching, resources, and training from SINGA and our partners.
  • Art Space Collective

I'm a Colombian economist living in Berlin. After working in the nonprofit world, I started shifting my focus toward creativity, connection, and personal growth. For the past three years, I’ve been exploring what it really means to belong to a city, a purpose, and a community.

To me, belonging is one of our deepest human needs to feel loved, accepted, and seen. I believe real prosperity comes when we show up as we are and offer that to something bigger than ourselves.
  • Art Space Collective

My background is in creative leadership and design, and I’m also a lifelong enthusiast of various arts and crafts. I strongly believe in the power of artistic activities as a coping mechanism in everyday life and a space to build meaningful connections and communities.

Belonging means to me that I can be myself, and I am accepted for who I am. It’s a safe space filled with love and trust.
  • ShiftZ Movement

Bengisu Berispek is an Environmental Engineer and founder of Sustain.ALL, SHIFT Z Movement, and RHEA Kollektiv, based in Berlin. She builds inclusive and creative spaces for sustainability and belonging with lasting impact - bringing together science, art, technology, fashion, and community co-creation.

Belonging is the feeling of being seen, safe, and invited to co-create our future. It grows through listening, shared rituals, and taking action together for people and planet.
  • Tjimen

    The Bude

Hi! I’m Tijmen and I use design as an excuse to bring strangers together and see what happens. As a social designer I try making life (yes, all life) a little better with one slightly-too-ambitious idea at a time.

Belonging is that feeling when you walk into a space and instinctively know you can just… be yourself. It’s the contentment of knowing the people around you, feeling at ease in the place you live, and sensing a genuine connection to your surroundings.
  • The Bude

I am Jennifer Valladares, a project management specialist and mentor with a background in business and economics. I support community builders in planning, budgeting, and implementing their MVPs so their ideas can become sustainable realities. Together with Tijmen, I’m part of The Bude, a co-created pavilion in Berlin’s public space.

For me, belonging means creating open, inclusive spaces where people can connect freely and discover that a single place in Berlin can hold many purposes.

  • Toto's Books

Raburu is a Kenyan storyteller, media professional, and co-founder of Toto’s Books - where African and Afrodiasporic childhoods come alive in multilingual, audio-first children’s stories. With experience curating content across radio, television, and digital media, she brings a storyteller’s eye to curating & capturing experiences that let every child see themselves reflected and celebrated.

Belonging is more than fitting in. It’s being recognised, celebrated, and given a space to shine. It’s the feeling of knowing your story matters and has a place in the world.
  • Yik

Money Freedom & Amplifying Belonging in Berlin

I’m Yik — a connector, problem solver, and researcher who helps Thai and Asian newcomers in Berlin feel at home and thrive. I guide people toward financial stability, career growth, leadership opportunities, and meaningful work — while also helping businesses connect with talent and expand to Asia.

Belonging means your skills, stories, and identity are truly seen — and you have the right opportunities, support, and community to grow with confidence.

  • Carys

    Multiplier Trainings

I'm a mediator and project manager with a background in the non-profit sector, supporting organisations to navigate collaboration and conflict with compassion and care.

Belonging is one of our inherent human needs. Feeling part of something bigger that holds us as we hold it, as I learned growing up in Celtic culture where we say 'In the shelter of each other the people live.' Through belonging we claim and honour our shared space within the entire community of life.
  • Luise

    Multiplier Trainings The Creative Cure

I am a Design Thinking and Mindful Arts Coach, supporting the SINGA learning/ Train the Trainers Team. My focus is in helping people to thrive by supporting them to find their purpose and to enhance their wellbeing.

Belonging means connection to myself, other people and nature. It means to feel at home and at ease in a community, having a save space to thrive.
  • Mirror Neurons, Multiplier Trainings

I'm a systemic coach, business trainer, and photographer who accompanies individuals and organizations to spark reflection, bigger picture thinking, innovation and conscious leadership by using photography in coaching and experiential learning. At Mirror Neurons, we're dedicated to mastering the art of facilitation, conscious leadership and collaboration.

Belonging is when I feel I can be myself and express freely. A space for genuine dialogue where I can flourish, share my stories, insights, perspectives, and experiences, and spark collaborative endeavors. It's a place I love returning to, a place that feels like home to me.
